About This Service

Gravity die casting (GDC) produces dimensionally superior aluminium castings compared to sand casting — with better surface finish, tighter tolerances, and higher mechanical properties. A well-made GDC mould is the difference between consistent, defect-free production and costly rework.

At Super Innovation, we manufacture GDC moulds in H13 and EN31 tool steel for aluminium alloys (LM6, LM24, LM25, ADC12). Every mould includes precision cooling channels, overflow wells, and venting slots designed to eliminate porosity and cold shuts. We also manufacture rubber die moulds for aluminium components where complex undercuts make rigid die casting impractical, and cold box die moulds for shell sand core production.

Our Process

01

Casting Design Review

We review the aluminium component drawing, check for draft angles, undercuts and wall thickness. Gate location and overflow position are determined using simulation logic.

Mould Design in CAD

Complete 3D mould design including parting line, side-actions (if needed), cooling channel routing, overflow wells, and venting. Customer reviews and approves before machining.

Tool Steel Machining

H13 tool steel blocks are rough-machined, heat-treated, and finish-machined on VMC. Die cavity surfaces are precision-finished to Ra 1.6 or better. Cooling holes drilled.

Assembly, Trial & Approval

Mould assembled, fitted with ejector pins and cooling connections. Trial castings poured on gravity die casting machine. Dimensions checked. Mould dispatched after approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our GDC moulds are designed for aluminium alloys — primarily LM6 (Al-Si12), LM24 (Al-Si8Cu3), LM25 (Al-Si7Mg), and ADC12. We calculate shrinkage, draft angles, and gate velocity for each alloy. We do not make pressure die casting (PDC) dies at this time.
